Then you were to answer the following questions about each of the three songs,

**Discuss the political messages being conveyed verbally and visually? Then examine why is this relevant to society and What has the government (Congress) done about it?

Now take a focused perspective.

3. Now It would be helpful to read the lyrics of your song. So as a class let's read the lyrics to Alice Coopers ELECTED.  Break into groups of 2 or 3 and read the song and then consider the following questions. One person in your group will be the recorder, create a page within pbworks and title it Elected. Please make sure all the group members name are represented.

•  How does the writer arrange his or her ideas? Chronologically? 
•  How does the writer use diction? (Word choice, arrangement, accuracy, is it formal, informal? Technical versus slang?
•  Does the writer use dialogue? Quotations? Why?
•  Are important terms repeated?
•   What is the sentence structure of song? Are there fragments, run-ons? Is it declarative, 
  imperative, exclamatory? What effect does this have?
•   Does the writer use punctuation to create an effect? Italics, underlining,  parentheses? 
  Which marks does the writer use, and when?

4. Now let's watch the Music Video for this song. Consider the following questions  (adapted from your Writing Textbook)

• What is the overall effect of the video?
• What about the images used to get your attention? Size,  Color,  Humor???
• What message is the artist conveying with the images?
• What is the overall argument the author/musician  presents?
• Did you interpretation of the song change when you watched the video? was it enhanced or was it completly altered?
