  • Corvino and Jolliffe state that rhetoric in not "dialectic" (para 14). Look up Dialetic what is it? Why is rhetoric not dialectic?

Rhetorical Analysis(1).pptx

Discourse is everywhere and we use it extensively everyday. It is important to not only examine what is being said, but how it is said.  Considering this will help you analyze if the text is successful.

When one wants to persuade their boss for a raise, they would select their words very carefully so that their superior is persuaded. When we are in the decision making position and others are attempting to persuade us, we want to critically look their argument so we can make a sound decision. We are reading, writing and  communicating using many different forms of media, thus the importance of critically looking at the information we are taking in on a daily bases. Being able to critically think about a text, the message that is being conveyed and how that message is being conveyed will have distinct results in ones' action.  You can clearly see how rhetorical analysis can fit into daily lives. Now let's throw technology into the mix.

In the 21st century we use technology to communicate just about everything. We are communicating and interpreting information all day long; most of society writes texts messages, facebook posts, instant messages,  and emails on a daily bases. The persuasive rhetorical devices  of pathos, ethos and logos are  enhanced by the clever use of technology. So as a society we are creating discourse and rhetorically analyzing on a daily basis.
