MT Reflective Portfolio MC

Today you will:

1. Write your reflective overview for your learning process up to this point in the semester.  (Time this writing for 60 min) This reflective should include what you have learned not only in Writing project 3  but also Writing project 1 & 2. This is a chance to share with me, your thinking process and what you have learned that might not be readily visible.  Think of this as a Dear Prof Stovall, writing in which you are showcasing why you deserve an A....what have you learned...what did you come into class with knowing, where are you at presently, and where do you see the application? Then use/mention the writing you have done to back up your claims.

Reflective Overview

Reflection lies somewhere within the realm of learning and thinking; we reflect in order to learn, or we learn as a result of reflecting.  We can't reflect on what we have not learned, so this is  your time to share what you have learned that up to this point has been invisible. This is the time to create the paper trail of your critical thinking, your active learning, demonstrating  your usage of the  Habits of Mind.

  • Reflection is thinking on a deeper level, a serious contemplation and analysis about something (in this case your learning).
  • Reflective writing should be practiced consistently in all content areas of ones’ life.

In Reflective Writing, students will (remember to use the handout linked Habits of Mind)

How are you demonstrating the Habits of Mind thus far in your courses.

Use the following to help you delve into your reflection over the Habits of Mind:

  • evaluate personal progress toward meeting goals in literacy skills
  • develop the connection between literacy skills (reading and writing) and

understanding of content knowledge. (This includes the reading and writing you have done in all your courses.)

  • describe you literacy skills, strategies, processes or areas of growth
  • analyze your decisions about literacy goals
  • evaluate own strengths and areas for growth
  • support claims about self

Each students must use writing assignments and or work you have done over the course of the semester to provide evidence to the above required elements. (Suggestion, use the work you have done for this project stored on your wiki/google drive and or other means) <--When you do this within your reflective, you thus create the evidence to back up your claims. In the end you will create a portfolio of your work which supports your critical thinking, active learning, and your literacy goals and where you see your areas of strength and areas of growth. (or) for my online students reference your assignments by putting them in bold.

2. Please create a page within your wiki/google drive. Title it Reflective MT.  Or you may create a folder and title it Mid-Term.  <-- only for my face to face classes using wiki.

Everyone else using Canvas, you will submit your Reflective within the Midterm module right underneath the assignment link itself (A Min of five full paragraphs are required for both FtoF and BlendFlex/Hyflex classes.)

3. Once you leave the classroom or you submit the assignment (for my online sections) this document can't be edited. <-- Only for my face to face.

Online students, check everything you need before you submit.
